Mary has been a transformative figure in the nuclear sector since founding an environmental group in 1998 that successfully halted the construction of a nuclear waste incinerator. Her expertise in consensus-building and strategic planning was recognized at the federal level when she served on the President’s Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future from 2010 to 2012. During this time, she expanded engagement with diverse national entities, including state and local governments and tribal nations, fostering dialogue and understanding across the nuclear sector.
In 2013, Mary was appointed Advisor for External Engagement to the Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, further solidifying her influence in the nation’s capital. Her pivotal role in the Department of Energy’s “Consent-based Siting” initiative from 2015 to 2018 incorporated public and stakeholder input into program development, exemplifying her commitment to inclusive decision-making processes.
Mary’s career continued to flourish as she became Director of Stakeholder Engagement at Deep Isolation, a pioneering nuclear waste disposal firm in Berkeley, and consulted for Southern California Edison on strategic nuclear fuel cycle management. For the past four years, she has been leading stakeholder engagement and business development for Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation. Her visionary approach to stakeholder collaboration and sustainable nuclear energy solutions underscores her dedication to environmental stewardship and innovative energy practices.
