Thirty-plus years’ experience in energy and natural resources collaborating with investors, CEOs and senior management teams to identify and deploy energy and climate solutions

Sydney is President of Galena Strategies LLC, an energy consultancy.  She has over 30 years of experience as a thought leader, subject matter expert and change agent in energy and natural resources.  For the last three years, she has been advising the USTDA as a nuclear technical expert in South, Central and Eastern Europe.  These negotiations and follow-on studies have culminated in USTDA funding to 3 countries for US Small Modular Reactors (SMR's), and large reactors to replace existing coal plants. 

She also serves as Vice-Chair of the International and Finance Working Group of the US Nuclear Industry Council (USNIC), where she was one of the original founders.   In that capacity, she works to promote the export of US nuclear products, services, and financing options.   Sydney serves as an Ambassador to the Department of Energy for the C3E program, promoting women in clean energy.

She previously served as Senior Advisor and Principal at the law firm Dentons US LLP, in the Global Energy Practice, where she helped grow their energy practice from 12 offices in 2 countries to 125 offices in over 80 countries.  She also served as Vice Chairman to the Department of Commerce's Civil Nuclear Trade Commission (CINTAC), where she participated in the 123 Agreements negotiations in Vietnam and China for exporting US nuclear technologies.  As Senior Vice President at USEC, Inc., now Centrus, she led the Highly Enriched Uranium negotiations with the Russian Federation to import fissile material from 10,000 decommissioned nuclear warheads. 

Sydney has also helped clients at the Departments of Defense, Interior, State and Energy, the National Security Council, the Environmental Protection Agency and FEMA to facilitate strategic solutions in national crises.  

Sydney has traveled extensively around the globe, to include the Arctic, Mongolia and Antarctica, working with scientists in climate change adaptation. Sydney received her BA from Colorado College, where she wrote her thesis on "Nuclear vs. Coal: An Economic Cost-Comparison," and she has completed two Certificate courses at Stanford Graduate School of Business.
